David Nicholson Mares Hurdle

The grade two David Nicholson Hurdle gives centre stage to the girls on the Tuesday of the festival. The inaugural running took place in 2008 and went to the classy mare Whiteoak. Unfortunately, Donald McCain’s flag bearer has recently been retired and will see out the rest of her days at paddock. The 2009 race was won in emphatic style by the Willie Mullin’s trained Quevega. She is bidding to win back to back races but has had a nightmare preparation. She has yet to see the track this season after she picked up an injury in France and looks very short at 5-4.

There is no doubting Quevega’s ability but her preparation has been less then ideal. (more…)

Football Betting Odds



Premier League

The tense rivalries at both ends of the Premier League recommence this weekend with vital battles raging for the title, Champions League places and to avoid relegation.

Liverpool’s
unexpected defeat to Wigan last Monday means that the fourth Champions League spot really is up for grabs. Tottenham are one of a handful of teams with realistic European ambitions and they can continue their push for fourth spot with a home win against Blackburn Rovers in front of the TV cameras on Saturday. Another disappointing week for our long shots. Two 0-0 draws frustrated our football bets, Thongchai Jaidee didn’t quite cut the mustard in Malaysia and a first round nightmare for Carl Pettersson ended his chances at the Honda Classic. His second round was superb, however, and more of that later….

The battle for fourth spot in the Premier League continues this weekend and several clubs will be looking to take advantage of Liverpool’s slip-up in their 1-0 defeat to Wigan. Spurs can continue their push with a home win over Blackburn Rovers whilst Manchester City are a good value 11/10 to overcome Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Weekends Horse Racing Tips

There’s plenty of action this Saturday, with some of the top tracks in the U.K holding racing. The race of the day goes at Newbury, the Greatwood Gold Cup, where Tony McCoy and Can’t Buy Time should take a lot of beating. Doncaster holds a decent card with the Grimthorpe Chase head lining that meet. Kelso, Kempton and Gowran also hold jumps cards. (more…)
